Past, present and future
This building, with a characteristic shape of a mushroom, used to be a prestigious spot of the city and is the remnant of Baltona company which used to offer to Polish citizens western goods sold in foreign currency. It has existed for 50 years and it was designed by an engineer -Andrzej Korzeniowski, PhD - who was one of the leading representatives of Polish post-war modernism in architecture. Every resident of Szczecin dreamt of shopping in that place. This building with its unusual shape was a symbol of modernity, “the West” and unimpeded development.
New “Mushroom” refers to those values. The building will occupy a representative place in the Park and it will serve as a customer service point.
